About the economic development and continuous innovations of the city of Naftalan
The successful economic reforms implemented by our esteemed President Mr. Ilham Aliyev have had a positive impact on the development of the resort city of Naftalan in all areas. In general, in recent years, there has been significant expansion of construction and infrastructure projects, the implementation of important social projects, and most importantly, great successes in the development of tourism in the city, resulting in positive macroeconomic indicators.
Last October 8-9, for the first time, an International Scientific-Practical Conference titled "Naftalan Tourism Synergy Source. New Realities in the Region" was held. As you may know, specialists and city mayors, including representatives of government authorities from six countries around the world, participated in the conference. The main purpose of the conference was to assess the role and potential of Naftalan city as a synergy source for resort activities and tourism development in the region.
The total production output for 2022 was 21.862 million manat, with the leading sector of the economy, industry, producing 6.677 million manat worth of services. The transport and warehouse services provided to the population amounted to 285,000 manat, paid services, one of the main indicators characterizing the standard of living of the population, amounted to 22.478 million manat, retail trade turnover amounted to 33.353 million manat, and information and communication services provided to legal and physical persons amounted to 297,000 manat. The share of agricultural products in the total production output was 2.271 million manat, and the volume of construction work was 1.660 million manat. The economic growth has clearly manifested itself in the average monthly salary calculation report, with the average monthly salary for one worker rising to 513 manat.
The local budget revenue of the city was planned at 3,972,000 manats, but the income from local sources has reached 4,478,556 manats, which means that there is an excess of 506,556 manats or 12.75% compared to what was planned. The expenses were 3,059,169 manats. During this period, the financing of the main social payments was ensured, and all obligations related to labor and pensions were fulfilled.
As of 2022, the number of employable population in Naftalan city is 8,490, of which 7,003 are employed. Currently, 195 people in Naftalan city are registered as unemployed, and only 4 of them have been granted unemployment benefits.
In the corresponding period of 2022, two people were employed at "Dost İş Mərkəzi" LLC in Naftalan city.
There are currently 5 vacancies in the Employment Subsystem of Naftalan city. Additionally, the State Employment Agency's Branch No. 18 in Naftalan city has organized "employment marathons", "joint financing programs for salaries", and "vocational training" projects for entrepreneurs with the cooperation of the Naftalan City Executive Power and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. Several Medical Centers have already started benefiting from these projects.
To make the leisure time of both city residents and local and foreign tourists more comfortable, major repair works continue in Heydar Aliyev, Samad Vurgun, Galebe and Nariman Narimanov parks, and unlimited and high-speed optical Wi-Fi transmitters have been installed in the parks.
Throughout the year, over 3200 different types of trees have been planted in the city, the rose bushes in the parks have been renewed, and care has been given to the existing green areas.
It is known that tourism, which is one of the fastest growing sectors in the non-oil sector in our Republic, forms the backbone of the economy of many regions, especially the city of Naftalan, which is famous for its medicinal oil. In 2022, 37,788 tourists visited the city, with 7,508 of them from 42 countries around the world. Guests from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Israel, and Saudi Arabia made up the majority of the tourists.
Taking into account the increase in the number of tourists and demand, the Naftalan City Executive Authority always supports entrepreneurs who want to open new health and recreation centers.
Currently, the final construction works of the new 5-story "Sun City Naftalan & SPA" Health Center are being carried out. The complex, located 2 km from the city center, has a total area of 0.63 hectares and a construction area of 785 square meters. The center has 99 rooms and 192 beds. In addition, it will feature a game room, outdoor pool, indoor restaurant, and bar.
During the reporting year, the opening of the new 240-room "Park Naftalan" and 195-room "Nur Naftalan" Medical Centers in the city was also noted.
As our country's leader pointed out, Naftalan has now become an International Tourism Center.
