International Scientific-Practical Conference continued in Naftalan

On October 8, 2023, with the joint organization of the Naftalan City Executive Power, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Tourism Agency, the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau, and PMD Hospitality, the International Scientific-Practical Conference on the topic "Naftalan – The Synergy Source of Health and Tourism. Development Strategy of the International Tourism Center" began with a plenary session and panel discussions.

Before starting the conference, the participants visited the monument of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, laid flowers in front of it and paid their respects to his dear memory.

At the Heydar Aliyev Center, they inspected the stands reflecting the life and creativity of the National Leader. After the video clip about Naftalan was shown, the plenary session of the conference started its work.

Vugar Novruzov, the Head of Executive Power of the Naftalan city, greeted the guests with his opening speech and wished success to the work of the conference. Developing economic reforms, development of entrepreneurship, business development is the focus of every time, achieving these potential serious successes, supporting the implementation of new economic projects in the capital and regions. He noted that the International Scientific-Practical Conference will build the future with business acumen and efficiency, and receive its valuable contribution of medical tourism at the international level.

President of ANAS, Member of Parliament Isa Habibbeyli, Deputy Minister of Health Nadir Zeynalov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rauf Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Bashir Hajiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board Florian Zengstshmit ,Advisor to the President of SOCAR Khalik Mammadov, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Ganja Recep Oztop, Chief Medical Officer of "PMD Hospitality" Chingiz Hajiyev, lnterim Director General of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology Farhad Guliyev, Executive Director of the State Support Agency for NGOs Aygun Aliyeva, Deputy Mayor of Druskininkai Linas Urmanavičius of the Republic of Lithuania, Deputy Mayor of Yalova city Municipality of the Republic of Türkiye Fatih Sahin, President of the German Medical Wellness Association Lutz Lungwitz, Head of Tourism Industry Development Department of Kazan Tourism Development Committee of Russian Federation Anna Strelkova, Deputy Head of Internal Policy Department of Astana of the Republic of Kazakhstan Miras Abdurahman, Vice-President of the Medical Tourism Association of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akhmad Akhmedov spoke about the stimulation of health and tourism activities, the assessment of the possibilities of using the existing tourism potential, the establishment of mutual relations between stakeholders in the tourism industry, the development of therapeutic and medical, archeological, agro and ecotourism, they specially emphasized ways to promote Naftalan’s tourism potential in the international world.

Later, the conference continued its work on three panels. The panels discussed "Global marketing perspectives of Naftalan city as a health and wellness tourism destination", "Sustainable tourism management in Naftalan: risk management, safety, scientific researches and application of quality standards", "Naftalan and alternative tourism opportunities: archaeological tourism, agrotourism and ecotourism perspectives".

The expected results of the conference are to identify the problems encountered in various fields of health tourism in the modern era and to discuss ways to overcome them, to prepare proposals and recommendations, and at the same time to create opportunities for the promotion of Naftalan's tourism potential in the international world.

The two-day International Conference was attended by representatives of 8 foreign countries and more than 100 participants in total.
