Naftalan City Executive Power, State Tourism Agency and Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau jointly organized a tourism development plan of Naftalan city. The presentation was attended by the Head of the Naftalan City Executive Power, Mr. Vugar Novruzov, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Mr. Fuad Nagiyev, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau, Mr. Floraian Sengstschimid, and other officials. Participants of the event first visited the monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev, laid flowers at the monument and paid tribute to the memory of the Great Leader. Then the guests visited the Heydar Aliyev Center and viewed photo stands reflecting various periods of the national leader's life and political activity.
Opening the event in the assembly hall of Naftalan City Executive Power, the head of Naftalan City Executive Power Vugar Novruzov gave detailed information about the tourism potential of Naftalan and the health and recreation centers operating in the city. He said that after Azerbaijan gained independence, especially in recent years, Naftalan, like all cities in the country, is experiencing a new stage of development. The basis of this development is the policy founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by  Mr. President Ilham Aliyev. Entrepreneurship development has always been a priority for the country's leadership. The value that First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva attaches to tourism, culture and art in the country also gives us an incentive to work more closely.
At present, there are 12 sanatoriums with three 5 stars in the city. At the same time, the newly completed Bus Terminal Hotel Complex, Naftalan Hotel & Spa and 3 new hotel-sanatoriums under construction will soon contribute to the city's tourism potential.
He noted that Naftalan has been included in the list of 6 regions and cities that have been paid from their own incomes since 2016 due to tourism revenues. This year, about 37,000 tourists visited the city, more than 11,000 of whom were citizens of 61 countries.
Head of the Naftalan City Executive Power, stressed that the involvement of the Tourism Agency in this work could play an important role both in the development of tourism in the city and in the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan in general.
Speakers at the event said that one of the main tasks ahead is to turn the city, developed in the field of health tourism with therapeutic Naftalan oil, into a modern resort center and develop it as an international tourism center.
Within the framework of the event, a presentation of the Ganja Destination Management Organization under the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau was held in Naftalan. Then the guests visited Garabag Resort & SPA hotel and got acquainted with the treatment procedures with naphthalene oil.
